5 things that will mark the day

The National Statistics Institute (INE) will release data on the evolution of local incomes, while in the markets it is the day that Navigator goes ex-dividend. The European Council meeting will also end. Here are five things that could mark this Friday.
End of the European CouncilThe meeting of heads of state and government of the member states of the European Union (EU), chaired by António Costa, President of the European Council, ends this Friday . The meeting began on Thursday where European leaders committed to financing increases in defense spending in line with NATO's new target. On Thursday, the Portuguese Prime Minister ruled out the possibility of reprogramming the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) to meet the new ambition in this area.
Where do rents rise the most?The National Statistics Institute (INE) will update the statistics on housing rents at local level for the first quarter of 2025. In the last quarter of 2024, rents in Portugal continued to increase (9.3%), although they slowed down compared to the 11% annual increase recorded in the previous quarter. The statistics body will also release the results of the business and consumer surveys for June, as well as data on Portuguese companies in the context of the International Day of Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, celebrated this Friday.
Navigator shares lose right to dividendAs of this Friday, Navigator shares will be traded without the right to the dividend. This means that investors who purchase shares from this date onwards will no longer be entitled to the respective payment. As is usual in these situations, the share price should adjust, approximately reflecting the value of the dividend, which in this case is 0.10545 euros per share.
Local Administration in protestA nationwide protest by workers in the local public administration and business sector has been scheduled. The National Union of Local and Regional Administration Workers (STAL) has called for the protest, which will begin at Largo de Camões at 10:30 a.m. and continue until Parliament . The strike includes workers in Local Administration, Town Councils and Parish Councils, as well as workers in municipal companies.
Where is Portugal in the purchasing power ranking ?Eurostat will release data on gross domestic product (GDP) and employment in EU countries, adjusted for purchasing power parity – a way of buying the wealth produced by countries, adjusting for differences in price levels. In 2023, Portugal ranked 5th among Eurozone countries with the lowest purchasing power parity among workers earning the guaranteed minimum wage.
