Alckmin details to business leaders a strategy to reverse Trump's tariff hike

Vice President Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) chaired the committee's first meeting with the production sector this Tuesday, the 15th. At the event, the Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services once again questioned the imposition of a 50% tariff on Brazilian products by the United States.
"The United States has a trade deficit with much of the world, but a trade surplus with Brazil, both in the services and goods sectors," he emphasized.
According to him, the Brazilian government is in direct contact with representatives of the North American industrial sector who may be affected by the new tariffs . The idea is to strengthen the argument that the new tariff barrier erected by President Donald Trump harms businesspeople in both countries.
"We spoke with our American industrial partners to get them involved in this work, demonstrating that this not only increases the cost and harms the Brazilian economy, but also increases the price of American products," Alckmin continued. "And even more so given the limited time available."
The vice president reinforced the Brazilian government's commitment to resolving the tariff issue and highlighted the importance of listening to suggestions from all sectors involved.
Business leaders such as Francisco Gomes Neto (Embraer), Ricardo Alban (CNI) and Josué Gomes da Silva (Fiesp) attended the meeting.
In addition to Alckmin, the government also participated in the meeting with ministers Fernando Haddad (Finance), Rui Costa (Chief of Staff), Simone Tebet (Budget) and Silvio Costa Filho (Ports and Airports).
