Alcochete. Studies to relocate shooting range this year

The Air Force has until December 31 to present the studies necessary to choose the location of the new shooting range, due to the construction of the airport in Alcochete, according to a Resolution of the Council of Ministers published this Thursday.
The resolution published in the Official Gazette determines “that the Air Force prepare the necessary studies regarding the chosen location, infrastructure, equipment and other essential requirements for the installation and operation of the new shooting range, which must be presented to the Government, through the member of the Government responsible for the area of national defense, by December 31, 2025”.
To this end, the Government authorizes the Air Force to spend up to a maximum amount of one million euros , to which value added tax (VAT) is added.
According to the Council of Ministers' statement of July 10, the Government ordered "the preparation of the necessary studies for the reorganization of the airspace in the area of the new airport and the future shooting range, in order to allow and reconcile military and civil aviation operations."
This will be a collaborative process between competent entities, the Air Force, NAV – Portuguese Air Navigation, the National Aeronautical Authority and ANAC (National Civil Aviation Authority).
Also published today was a resolution authorizing the Air Force to invest up to 30 million euros to relocate the Figo Maduro Military Airfield (AT1) to the Montijo Air Base, following the plan to expand the capacity of Humberto Delgado Airport.
The transfer of AT1 operations is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
