Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday proclaimed a “historic victory” over Iran, assuring that the rival country “will never have nuclear weapons” after the attacks suffered, reports the Times of Israel .

In a televised address, as a ceasefire between the two countries holds , Netanyahu listed Israel's achievements in the bombings of the past 12 days, including the elimination of top generals and nuclear scientists, the destruction of the Natanz and Isfahan nuclear facilities, and the Arak heavy water reactor.

“For decades, I promised you that Iran would not have nuclear weapons, and we have indeed brought Iran’s nuclear program to ruin. We have destroyed Iran’s nuclear project. And if anyone in Iran tries to rebuild that project, we will act with the same determination and with the same intensity to prevent any such attempt,” the Israeli leader assured, adding: “I repeat again and again: Iran will never have nuclear weapons .”

In his remarks, Netanyahu also thanked Donald Trump for “ his role in defending Israel and eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat .” “Israel has never had a friend like President Trump in the White House and I am very grateful to him for our work together,” the Israeli prime minister said, hours after the US president criticized Israel for violating the ceasefire with Iran.

The Israeli leader stressed that “American forces destroyed the underground facility” for enriching uranium, which ensured that Iran’s nuclear program would be “in the trash.”
