Portalegre: Pre-trial detention for homicide suspect

A 27-year-old man was arrested by the PSP and will await trial in preventive detention, on suspicion of attempted qualified homicide, using a bladed weapon, in Portalegre, that security force reported this Wednesday.

The PSP Portalegre District Command explains, in a statement, that it arrested the suspect on Tuesday because he was “strongly suspected” of assaulting another man , using a bladed weapon.

According to the PSP, this situation that occurred in June of this year on a street in Portalegre generated “social alarm”.

The PSP states that, since becoming aware of the facts, it has carried out the necessary steps to identify the suspect and, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor's Office of the District of Portalegre, proceeded to arrest the suspect, outside of flagrant crime.

The man was present for his first judicial interrogation on Tuesday, and the most severe coercive measure, preventive detention, was applied, as he was accused of attempted qualified homicide.
