PRR: Pedro Dominguinhos assures that "so far we haven't lost any euros"

PRR: Pedro Dominguinhos assures that "so far we haven't lost any euros"

The president of the National Monitoring Committee for the Recovery and Resilience Plan ( PRR ) assured today that, so far, Portugal has not lost a single euro from this plan and warned of the difficulty of the latest disbursements.

"So far, we haven't lost a single euro. We have, of course, complied with payment requests up to the sixth, which will be disbursed shortly," said Pedro Dominguinhos, president of the National Monitoring Committee for the RRP, speaking at the parliamentary committee on Economy and Territorial Cohesion, at the request of Chega and the Socialist Party.

Dominguinhos said that the seventh and eighth payment requests should not raise any major doubts, but warned that the last two requests are more difficult, given the milestones and goals they involve.

On the other hand, he noted that the RRP currently in effect is not the same as that presented to the European Commission in 2021, as it has already been reprogrammed.

When asked specifically about the health sector, the president of the National Monitoring Committee for the PRR warned that the "most complex situation" is in the national network of continuing care, where many projects have not yet been launched.

Added to this are the infrastructures or equipment that have been completed but are not yet being used by the population.

“I visited a building with 60 beds in Leiria, ready since March, which is waiting to be integrated into the network,” he explained.

This official emphasized that all of his reports were approved unanimously and that representatives of civil society are part of this committee, such as universities, polytechnics, mutual societies and the confederations of farmers, tourism, commerce and business.

The RRP, which runs until 2026, aims to implement a set of reforms and investments with a view to restoring economic growth.

In addition to aiming to repair the damage caused by COVID-19, this plan aims to support investments and generate jobs.
