Soybeans: sanitary vacuum now valid throughout Paraná

São Paulo, 23/06 – The soybean sanitary break came into effect throughout the state of Paraná last Saturday, the 21st, the Paraná State Department of Agriculture and Supply reported in a statement. The ban – which now includes region 1 of the state, comprising the south, east, Campos Gerais and the coast – will remain in effect until September 19.

The aim of the measure is to prevent the proliferation of the fungus Phakopsora pachyrhizi, which causes Asian rust, the most severe disease affecting soybean crops. According to the statement, during this period, planting or keeping plants of this species alive is not permitted. In Goiás, the sanitary break comes into effect this Friday, the 27th.
