Teatro Clube de Penamacor opened this Thursday

The Teatro Clube de Penamacor, an investment of around 2.5 million euros, will be inaugurated this Thursday at 5 pm, in a ceremony attended by the Secretary of State for Culture, Alberto Santos.
The cultural facility is the result of the renovation of a building that had been closed for decades and originally opened to the public in 1912. The inauguration begins at 5:00 pm, and after guest performances, the show "A Kind of Queen" will be presented, a tribute to the British band Queen.
The mayor of Penamacor, in the Castelo Branco district, said that the expectation is that the space will be “fully active” throughout the second half of the year.
The Tetro Clube de Penamacor operated as a theater until 1940, had movie screenings until 1969, and operated as a performance venue until later. Construction began in 2020, and the building's facade and auditorium were preserved.
The project had an initial cost of around two million euros and the value increased to 2.5 million euros, with financing of around half a million euros through the Penamacor Urban Regeneration Plan and support of 1.6 million euros under the Financial Instrument for Urban Rehabilitation and Revitalization.
