UK becomes top European destination for venture capital

For the thirtieth quarter, the British territory was the top destination for venture capital, bringing together 30% of all capital raised through this mechanism on the European continent this year.

The United Kingdom is becoming Europe's capital for venture capital. For the thirtieth quarter, the British territory was the top destination for this type of investment, accounting for 30% of all capital raised through this mechanism in Europe this year, according to CNBC .

According to data from a report by Dealroom and HSBC Innovation Banking, published by CNBC, in the first six months of the year, British startups managed to raise eight billion dollars (6.8 billion euros), an amount that is greater than that raised by France and Germany combined.

However, these figures don't paint the full picture. While the United Kingdom is becoming the European capital for venture capital, it has also been experiencing growing pains when it comes to public offerings (IPOs). In the first half of this year, funds raised through IPOs were the lowest since 1995, when data began to be collected. As of July, only five companies had entered the London financial market through IPOs, raising £160 million (€185.4 million), CNBC points out.

CNBC also points out that the London Stock Exchange has faced another challenge: retaining listed companies. This is because Wise has decided to make the United States its primary location for the exchange, and AstraZeneca is considering making a similar decision.
