Wall Street closes in the green

Wall Street closed Wednesday's session in positive territory. The S&P 500 rose 0.31% to 6,263.03 points, the Nasdaq tech index rose 0.26% to 20,730.49 points, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.50% to 44,245.12 points.
Among the companies posting gains was Tesla, which rose 3.62%. The pharmaceutical sector ended up having a good day. Eli Lilly rose 2.27%, and Johnson & Johnson soared 6.12%, after reporting a 5.8% increase in revenue in the second quarter, with earnings rising 18.2% to $5.5 billion.
Overall, most sectors in the North American financial markets have seen upward trends. However, amid the "green" trend, some losses are noteworthy. Among them, Meta, which fell 1.04%, and Amazon, which fell 1.39%.
Banking was certainly one of the sectors that felt the red. JPMorgan Chase slipped 0.39%, Bank of America fell 0.27%, and Citigroup dropped 0.61%. But amidst the red, there was some green. This was the case for Wells Fargo, which gained 1.06%, and Bank of New York Mellon, which rose 0.08%.
The "red" also affected some listed companies in the energy sector. This includes Exxon Mobil, which fell 0.36%, and Chevron, which fell 0.28%. Added to this is the 3.46% decline for Phillips 66, and Valero Energy, which slipped 3.58%.
Note the 2.35% drop by Applied Materials, which operates in the semiconductor sector.
On the European side, the main European stock markets closed mostly in the red. The DAX (Germany) rose 0.07% to 24,077.10 points, the CAC 40 (France) fell 0.57% to 7,722.09 points, and the FTSE 100 (United Kingdom) fell 0.13% to 8,926.55 points.
The AEX (Netherlands) fell 2.29% to 902.11 points, the IBEX 35 (Spain) rose 0.08% to 13,885.70 points, and the FTSE MIB (Italy) fell 0.40% to 39,762.52 points. The Portuguese stock exchange (PSI) fell 0.17% to 7,694.04 points.
Oil is trading higher with Brent rising 0.07% to $68.76 and crude rising 0.23% to $0.23.
The euro is rising 0.34% against the dollar to $1.16403 and the euro is appreciating 0.05% against the pound to $0.86729.
