Former Globo journalist invests in the real estate market and plans to move R$50 million

“Be happy, don't be sad, you're with Mylla Christie.” If you grew up in the 1990s, you might remember this iconic catchphrase used on Clube da Criança , on the now-defunct Rede Manchete.

Now 54 and no longer on broadcast television, the host of the popular children's show is working in real estate. She recently founded Acto with her husband, Paulo Luis Sartori, and they expect to have a turnover of R$50 million by the end of the year .

The project, in fact, is just the consolidation of something that the two have been doing for almost two decades: retrofitting , which is the process of revitalizing properties, that is, taking something old and outdated, renovating it and reselling it at a more attractive price.

"I really enjoy transforming spaces. Tutu [her husband's affectionate nickname] and I have a very meticulous way of making our old property practically new. He [husband] is a mix of architect, engineer, and designer [...] the renovations we do are impeccable. To give you an idea, we even clean some details with cotton swabs."

Mylla and Tutu usually work in the Jardins region, an upscale neighborhood in São Paulo. In their only experience outside the perimeter, in Morumbi, the couple suffered millions in losses. According to the artist, the work was excellent, but adverse conditions affected their profits. Despite the "punishment," she sees the experience as a learning opportunity.

"It's complicated. We've had setbacks along the way, learned from our mistakes, and today we don't invest money where it won't work. A broker once advised us on the three pillars of real estate success: location, location, and location," he told Terra .

Working alongside her husband is no problem for Mylla Christie . She and Tutu maintain a harmonious relationship. Like any couple, they're not perfect and have their share of disagreements, but nothing about work. In the office, the motto is: the best idea gets executed, no complaints.

"As incredible as it may seem, we don't have a discussion about our work. As far as I can remember, there never was, not even to decide on a color, not even to decide anything. We both want to succeed, so when the other's opinion is better than yours, we follow it. You immediately give up your own opinion to succeed," Tutu says.

"We argue too, it's not all rosy. Working all day together, there are times when you get fed up," says Mylla. "But not with this issue [work]. Always with the banalities of everyday life. But, to be honest, I wouldn't trade it for anything, for another type of work... if I were to do a job that took me away from Tutu, I wouldn't do it."

Throughout her career, Mylla Christie has worked on many broadcast television channels. Besides hosting the now-defunct Clube da Criança (Rede Manchete), she also invested heavily in her acting career, having worked for major networks such as Globo, Record, and, most recently, SBT—where she starred in As Aventuras de Poliana (2022), a soap opera written by Íris Abravanel.

Having been away from the screen for three years, she denies the idea that she's definitively traded art for real estate. In addition to frequent auditions, Mylla Christie has audiovisual projects underway and has been working as a producer on something original: a series that will follow the couple renovating spaces within vulnerable communities.

"I've been out of television for three years, but I'm not acting because I became a film producer. I'm not that starving, unemployed actress either; on the contrary, I have my own livelihood. For years now, I've been choosing my roles and projects. I have this luxury because I earned it, and it wasn't easy. I have two projects in development. One of them is a program in which Tutu and I will use our expertise to transform environments and lives within communities."

According to her, the original project is expected to enter pre-production now, in the second half of 2025, and will air on TV Cultura. The series will have eight episodes in total. In parallel, Mylla Christie is also producing a feature film, an adaptation of a yet-to-be-released play.
