Oruam's press office issues official statement following accusations against the singer

Oruam's press office issues official statement following accusations against the singer

The arrest of rapper Oruam, which occurred on Tuesday night (22), generated a strong reaction from his advisory team. The singer, who voluntarily turned himself in to authorities, was classified as a "highly dangerous" prisoner by the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police. This categorization was included in the Polinter Prisoner Collection Guide and is at the third level of a scale that goes up to four.

According to the official police version, Oruam allegedly interfered in an operation to apprehend a teenager suspected of robbery and drug trafficking. The teenager was reportedly at his residence in the Joá neighborhood, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro. Following the arrest warrant, the artist was indicted on seven counts, including drug trafficking, threats, contempt, bodily harm, property damage, and conspiracy to commit drug trafficking.

However, the singer's defense claims the approach was abusive, without a warrant, and outside legal hours. According to the press office, plainclothes officers allegedly arbitrarily invaded the artist's home, resorting to physical violence and threats, despite no resistance from those present. The statement also claims the rapper threw rocks at the unmarked cars out of desperation and self-defense, after being assaulted and threatened with firearms.

The singer's legal team also disputes the attempt to attribute the artist with an alleged attempted murder of two police officers, calling the accusation unfounded and already refuted by documentary and audiovisual evidence. According to the statement, this type of procedure, in itself, "constitutes an abuse of authority and a direct affront to the democratic rule of law."

In another statement, the press office also denied any involvement the singer had with criminal gangs. According to the statement, "information associating the artist with crimes or dangerousness classifications is completely unfounded and does not reflect reality." The statement also highlights the rapper's professional history, emphasizing his social engagement and his peripheral origins, which, they claim, cannot be used as justification for legal persecution or institutional discrimination.

"In light of the recent unfounded news and speculation that has been circulating about the artist Mauro Davi dos Santos Nepomuceno, known as Oruam, the press office team hereby clarifies and vehemently repudiates any attempt at defamation or dissemination of false information that harms the artist's image."

In a note sent to the LeoDias website, the press office also called for action to hold those responsible for the false information disseminated so far accountable. Furthermore, it reaffirmed its commitment to legality and human rights, mentioning that "the law has a color," a phrase frequently used by Oruam as a symbol of its fight against structural racism.
