Singer Bobby Sherman, the musician who rose to fame in the 1960s - having become a heartthrob at the time (still very young) - has died . The news was confirmed by TMZ.
According to a longtime friend of the musician, the artist died Tuesday morning at his home in Encino, Los Angeles, after suffering from cancer.
Bobby Sherman's wife, Brigitte Poublon Sherman, and friend John Stamos paid a joint tribute to the musician on Instagram, as they shared the same post on the social network.
"From one former teen idol to another - rest in peace, Bobby Sherman. This is from your wife, my friend, Brigitte. 'It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Bobby Sherman. Bobby left this world holding my hand - just as he sustained our life with love, courage and unwavering grace throughout our 29 beautiful years of marriage. I was his Cinderella and he was my Prince Charming.
Even in his final days, he remained strong for me. Bobby was like that - brave, kind and full of light. As he lay in peace, I read him letters from fans all over the world - words of love and gratitude that lifted his spirits and reminded him of how deeply loved he was. I soaked up every word with that twinkle in his eye. And yes, he still found time to make a well-timed joke - Bobby had a wonderful, wicked sense of humor. It never left him. He could light up a room with a look, a joke or one of his classic one-liners.
Known worldwide for his work in music and acting, he brought joy to millions through songs such as 'Julie, Do Ya Love Me', 'Easy Come, Easy Go' and 'Little Woman', and through his beloved role in 'Here Come the Brides'.
But to those who truly knew him, Bobby was so much more. [...] Bobby is survived by his two sons, Tyler and Christopher, and six beautiful grandchildren. He lived with integrity, gave of himself without hesitation, and loved with all his heart. And while our family feels his loss deeply, we also feel the warmth of his legacy - his voice, his laughter, his music, his mission. Thank you to every fan who sang with him, who wrote him a letter, who sent him love. He felt it. Rest in peace, my love. With gratitude and love, Brigitte Poublon Sherman," read John Stamos' Instagram post, which was also shared by Brigitte Poublon Sherman.
It was in 1969 when Bobby Sherman released one of the biggest hits of his career, the song 'Little Woman', which belongs to the homonymous album of that same year, the first gold record he achieved.
TMZ recalls that - in total throughout his career - the artist released seven gold singles, one platinum single and five gold records. His greatest success was achieved between the 60s and 70s.
In the late 1990s, the musician returned to his career, but retired (officially) in 2001. In the following years, he worked as a paramedic and taught first aid classes.
