Fashion faux pas or sustainability queens? We’re thinking the latter. The Venice Film Festival is ongoing, and while most celebs have been spotted wobbling off of gondolas to red carpets, another incident is catching the Internet’s attention: Amanda Seyfried, who is promoting her upcoming film The Testament of Ann Lee, posed in the exact same Versace outfit that Julia Roberts donned just two days before. The reason? Not miscommunication or a case of same-minded stylists at all. In this case, the outfit repeating came out of good, old-fashioned sharing.

Seyfried and Roberts both share the same stylist, Elizabeth Stewart. After Stewart posted a photo of Roberts’ look, Seyfried commented on the post, “Please let me wear the same outfit,” and Stewart thankfully obliged. After Seyfried’s appearance on September 1st, Stewart posted: “Thank you @juliaroberts for your generosity and sustainability 😉 Sharing is caring! ❤️” And we wholeheartedly agree. In the comments, Roberts added, “😍Amanda😍”
It helps that the outfit that both Seyfried and Roberts wore is simply so stylish. Created by Versace’s new creative director Dario Vitale, the look is understated but timeless–a true testament to the capsule wardrobe. With dark-washed jeans, a navy blazer, and a yellow striped shirt with the sleeves hiked up to the elbows, this outfit is the next step in office dressing. While Seyfried and Roberts opted for different shoes–Roberts, a classic black pump; and Seyfried, a strappy sandal–it’s definitely a nice departure from the statement-making gowns we typically see during the Venice Film Festival.
For those of us who aren’t fortunate enough to be able to raid Julia Roberts’ closet–or her stylist’s rack to find as-yet-unreleased Versace pieces, the outfit is pretty simple to put together with readily available pieces. You can even throw on a pair of loafers to keep the look more grounded for everyday wear.
Here, shop some of the key components to put together your own version of the viral outfit. And follow Roberts’ example, if any of your pals want to borrow a piece, we highly recommend giving an emphatic “Yes!”
