Preta Gil , who died this Sunday (20) due to complications from cancer , at the age of 50, was the fourth of Gilberto Gil's eight children and was the second heir from the singer's marriage to Sandra Gadelha, the singer's second union, currently married to Flora Gil .
Gil married Preta's mother in 1969, and the two remained a couple until 1980. After their marriage ended, Sandra and Gil remained friends. One of the most emotional moments the former couple shared was even featured in a post Preta Gil made in May of this year, on Mother's Day.
On the occasion, the singer shared a photo of herself with Fran Gil, her granddaughter, Sol de Maria, and her mother, Sandra Gadelha. Later in the post, Preta sang with her father, Gilberto Gil, the song "Drão," composed by the Bahian artist in homage to Sandra. "Happy Mother's Day to my daily inspiration. Without you, I would be nothing, my queen. Thank you for being by my side at all times. I love you with all my strength!" the artist wrote.
