Braga Netto's new move to convince Moraes to release him from prison

Walter Braga Netto 's (PL) defense appealed this Tuesday 24th to the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court Alexandre de Moraes , once again, to revoke the preventive detention of the general, defendant in the criminal action regarding the attempted coup d'état.
Earlier, Braga Netto participated in a confrontation with Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, another defendant in the case. At the time, the former aide-de-camp to Jair Bolsonaro (PL) once again stated that he received money from the general in the coup plot.
Preventively detained since December, Braga Netto participated in the procedure in person, wearing an electronic ankle bracelet, and returned to the prison unit in Rio de Janeiro shortly afterwards.
In the new request for freedom, the defense claims that, after the confrontation, the criminal investigation of the case ended . Therefore, say the lawyers, there is no investigation to be protected, which would eliminate the need for pre-trial detention.
The defense also claims that Braga Netto complied with the order to wear an ankle bracelet and not maintain contact with third parties during his trip to Brasília, “demonstrating that there is no risk in revoking preventive detention with the eventual decree of alternative precautionary measures, such as electronic monitoring”.
Finally, the lawyers argued, the Rio de Janeiro State Penitentiary Administration Secretariat informed that it will only remove the ankle bracelet upon express order from Moraes, which is why the defense requested the issuance of the corresponding official letter.
There is no set deadline for the judge to respond to the requests.
