The president of Chega stated today that his party will not constitute “an obstacle” to the viability of the changes to the Nationality Law proposed by the Government, but defended that they must be effective and “go even further”.
“I have always defended in politics that the fundamental thing is to solve people’s problems. It is certainly not Chega that will now prevent or create obstacles to things that need to be solved now”, stated André Ventura.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a visit to a country fair in Lisbon, the Chega leader considered that it is up to parliament to “ensure that the laws that come into force are of quality and effective”.
“And that is what we are going to try to do in this legislative process, not to be an obstacle, but to ensure that we can go even further, be more effective, ensure that those who have to enter, enter, and those who do not have to enter, do not enter,” he pointed out.
