Toffoli wants to share investigations into INSS after mentioning Onyx and deputy

Minister Dias Toffoli, of the Federal Supreme Court, requested the sharing of a series of investigations linked toOperation Sem Desconto , which targets a fraud scheme at the INSS, after the Federal Police identified mentions of federal deputy Fausto Pinato (PP-SP) and former minister Onyx Lorenzoni in the investigations.

According to the newspaper O Globo , the confidential order was signed on June 10. The order came days after the PF informed the magistrate of the summons to the pair.

Toffoli's decision states that there are elements indicating that “people with the right to a forum before this Supreme Federal Court, such as Onyx Lorenzoni and federal deputy Fausto Pinato (…), are mentioned in investigative notebooks that make up the framework of Operation Sem Desconto”.

Onyx denied any wrongdoing to the Metrópoles website. In a statement, Pinato stated that he had no connection with the facts under investigation. “The mention of me is solely due to the fact that my political office — rented in January 2024 — is located at the same address where a company allegedly linked to the case previously operated,” he explained.

The congressman also said that it was “an unfortunate coincidence” and stated that he was at the disposal of the authorities. “I am absolutely confident about the integrity of my conduct and the regularity of all my actions, both public and private. I reiterate my non-negotiable commitment to ethics, transparency and respect for democratic institutions.”
