Athletico-PR and Vila Nova close in on G-4; see summary of the Série B weekend

The 15th round of the Brazilian Championship Series B began last Thursday (3) and continues until Tuesday (8). Even if momentarily, the competition has a new leader: Coritiba, who beat Volta Redonda. The second-placed team, Goiás, will still take to the field. In addition to Athletico and Vila Nova , who are close to the G-4.

The Série B weekend began on Saturday (5) with two consecutive goalless draws: at Mangueirão, Remo and Cuiabá took to the field at 4 pm, while at 7:30 pm, Avaí and Paysandu faced each other at Ressacada and also did not leave the score at zero.

Athletico, who closed Saturday in the competition, was an unpleasant visitor against Amazonas. Starting Sunday, Vila Nova was another away team to win in the round and jumped to the top of the table, 2 points behind the G-4. Against Ferroviária, at Fonte Luminosa, Tigre was the first team to beat AFE at home. With goals from Weverton, Dodô and Júnior Todinho, the team from Goiás triumphed 3-1. Carlão scored for Ferrinha, who remained in 13th place.

Finally, another goalless draw: Botafogo -SP and Novorizontino faced off at the Santa Cruz Stadium, but were unable to change the score. Fogão reached 17 points and gained an advantage over the Z-4, while Tigre do Vale reached 27 and stagnated in third place.
