Corinthians taunts Palmeiras after elimination from the Club World Cup

After Palmeiras ' elimination in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Club World Cup, Corinthians used its social media to mock its rival. The green and white team's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last Friday (July 4) prompted a series of provocative posts from the black and white club.

The match took place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and ended with goals from Cole Palmer and an own goal from Weverton. Estêvão scored for Palmeiras. With the result, Chelsea advanced to face Fluminense in the semi-finals, repeating the matchup from the 2021 final, when they also beat Palmeiras.

Corinthians' first post came right after the final whistle. In a mocking tone, the club wrote: "The World Cup is for a FEW!", accompanied by a montage with the Palmeiras mascot being deported and the black and white Musketeer displaying the 2000 and 2012 trophies, both won by Corinthians. The post also made reference to the message previously published by Palmeiras itself, which said: "For us, access is free. But for some... BAM!".

Later, Corinthians revived another provocation, used in a Derby at the Neo Química Arena, with the phrase "The World Tradition is in the East Zone of São Paulo!", projected on the stadium's big screen. The caption added: "Good night and sweet dreams, Faithful!".

The club's and Neo Química Arena's official profiles also contributed provocative messages, highlighting the world titles won and reinforcing Corinthians' hegemony in this regard. "I miss seeing the Casa do Povo packed," wrote the arena's profile, illustrating with images of the stands displaying the trophies.

In fact, the rivalry between the two teams already had similar episodes.

Corinthians beat Chelsea 1-0 in the 2012 World Cup final in Japan, with a goal by Paolo Guerrero. Palmeiras, on the other hand, have never won the tournament, despite having played in other editions.
