Police detail details how NFL player died.

The world of American football was shaken this Thursday (6) when the Dallas Cowboys, of the NFL, announced the death of defensive end Marshawn Kneeland, 24, in Frisco, Texas.
The player was found dead in the early hours of the morning, following an incident involving a police chase and an investigation conducted by multiple agencies.
According to the official statement from the Frisco Police Department, Kneeland was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The text states that the incident occurred after a chase initiated by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Wednesday night (5). The vehicle in which the athlete was traveling entered the city of Frisco and, after losing control, collided on Dallas Parkway.
" On November 5, 2025, at approximately 10:39 p.m., the Frisco Police Department responded to a request for assistance from the DPS to locate a vehicle that had fled from a traffic stop. After losing visual contact, officers located the car minutes later, crashed on Dallas Parkway, southbound, near Warren Parkway ," the police said in a statement.
The document also states that after the accident, Kneeland fled the scene on foot, and the police initiated a search of the area with the support of drones. During the operation, officers received information that the player "had expressed suicidal thoughts."
During the course of the search, police received information that Kneeland had expressed suicidal thoughts. He was located at 1:31 a.m., already deceased, with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound," another excerpt from the statement reads.
The cause and manner of the player's death will be determined by the Collin County Medical Examiner's Office while the investigation continues. Police added:
"At this time, no further details will be released while the investigation remains ongoing. Our deepest condolences to Kneeland's family and friends."
The Dallas Cowboys, where the athlete played, also issued a statement expressing their deep sorrow at Kneeland's passing:
" We are deeply saddened by the news of Marshawn Kneeland's death. He was a young man with a promising future both on and off the field. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew him. "
Kneeland had stood out last Monday (3) when he returned a punt for a touchdown in the Cowboys' victory over the Arizona Cardinals, in the NFL.
