A bridge collapsed under a train in the Kursk region: the second explosion overnight?

Acting Governor of Kursk Region Alexander Khinshtein reported the collapse of a railway bridge in Zheleznogorsk District. At the time, a freight locomotive was moving along it. As a result of the collapse of the structure, part of the train fell onto the highway, the diesel locomotive caught fire, but the Emergencies Ministry employees who arrived at the scene quickly put out the fire.

"According to preliminary information, one of the locomotive drivers has injured his legs - the entire team was taken to the hospital. They are under the supervision of doctors," Khinshtein said .

The acting governor said that the cause of the bridge collapse is being determined.

As reported by Mash , the cause of the collapse of the bridge under the train in the Kursk region was an explosion, and the IED could have been planted in the bridge structure. TG-channel 112 claims that unknown persons installed two charges: on the support and under the canvas 30 m from the beginning of the bridge.

Work at the site of the train crash continues, the road is closed, the regional operational headquarters reported.

Later, the information about the explosion was confirmed by the Investigative Committee of Russia. As a result of the train crash, the driver and two of his assistants were injured.

The incident occurred just a few hours after a similar tragedy in the Bryansk region , where an explosion caused a bridge span to fall onto a passenger train, killing seven people and injuring 69, including three children.

The official representative of the Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko announced the beginning of criminal proceedings on the facts of explosions on the railway in the Kursk and Bryansk regions. The incident is classified as a terrorist act.
