Head of Rosobrnadzor named the share of migrant children who passed the Russian language exam

Rosobrnadzor Head Muzaev: 7 percent of migrant children passed Russian language test

Only seven percent of migrant children who applied for admission to educational institutions passed the Russian language test. This is the proportion of children that Rosobrnadzor head Anzor Muzayev named in an interview with TASS .

"Rosobrnadzor carries out monthly monitoring of testing results. During the period from April 1 to May 25, 3,677 foreign citizens applied for admission to educational institutions, of which 509 people actually participated in testing," Muzaev said.

55 percent, or about 270 people, completed the testing tasks. The remaining 45 percent will have the right to retake the test in three months, the head of Rosobrnadzor reminded.

Both requirements - to correctly submit documents and successfully pass the exam - were met by less than 10 percent of the exam participants, Muzayev noted. He recalled that only those children who have passed the test assignment in Russian can study in Russian schools.

In Russia, migrant children began to be tested for knowledge of the Russian language before being accepted into schools on April 1. According to the latest data , there are almost 640 thousand minor children of immigrants in Russia, and more than 80 thousand in Moscow.
