In Ivanovo region two women were sentenced in absentia for the murder of a military man

The Second Western District Military Court has issued a verdict in the case of the murder of Captain Konstantin Nagayko, a missile brigade battery commander, which occurred in December 2024 in the city of Shuya in the Ivanovo region. According to TASS, Russian Elena Popova received 24 years in prison, and Ukrainian Maria Savosta received 18 years. Both women have been placed on the international wanted list.

According to the case materials, Savosta sent a parcel containing a homemade explosive device to a serviceman, and Popova ensured its delivery. The crime was classified as a terrorist act. 29-year-old Captain Nagayko died when the parcel exploded.
Earlier, a 24-year-old Moscow resident was arrested in St. Petersburg on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack. According to investigators, the woman, who has antipathy toward the Russian government, received instructions from unidentified persons. She was instructed to plant a homemade explosive device on the vehicle of the head of one of the company's departments.
