Novgorod Resident to Stand Trial for Holocaust Denial

A criminal case on the rehabilitation of Nazism was filed with the Novgorod Regional Court. A certain citizen Ivanov is charged under this article, who, according to the preliminary investigation, posted on his VKontakte page posts and graphic images containing a public denial of the facts established by the verdict of the International Military Tribunal for the trial and punishment of the main war criminals of the European Axis countries of October 1, 1946, namely, the denial of the Holocaust.
The prosecution claims that the post contained a denial of the use of concentration camps to exterminate Jews, as well as desecration of symbols of Russia's military glory, insult to the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland, and humiliation of the honor and dignity of veterans of the Great Patriotic War.
The court hearing on this criminal case is scheduled for June 20 at 10:00.
Let us add that the punishment under this article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for a fine of up to 3 million rubles or in the amount of the salary or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to 3 years, or forced labor for a period of up to 3 years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to 3 years, or imprisonment for the same period with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to 3 years.

Let us recall that the "Holocaust", which in Greek means "burnt offering", refers to the extermination of European Jewry during World War II, undertaken by the Nazis and their accomplices. The spelling commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences recommended writing the word "Holocaust" with a capital letter.
