Novgorodians who decided to relax in the bosom of nature caused a lot of trouble for their relatives and searchers

Many residents of Veliky Novgorod and its districts preferred to spend the past weekend away from the bustle of the city – near water bodies and in forested areas. Some remembered picnics, walks and recreation on the water anxiously and for a long time: in three cases people got lost and had to call rescuers.
The regional Emergencies Ministry Directorate provides details. One of the locations where the walkers disappeared was the Borovichi District: here, in the forest near the village of Petukhovo, a woman and a child got lost. Fortunately, they were later able to get to the road, where they were met by a search party.
"In the Soletsky District, on the Shelon River, a man on an inflatable mattress disappeared from view of his relatives relaxing on the shore. He was found by the State Fire Service. He did not need medical assistance," the department commented.
Another case took place in the Demyansk district, where a pensioner became "lost". The man got lost in the forest, he had a mobile phone with him, which saved him.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry reminds:
- warn your loved ones about where you are going and what route you are taking;
- Dress in bright colors to blend in with the wooded area;
- Bring a raincoat, snacks and drinking water;
- also take with you the essentials for survival in the forest: matches, a watch, a flashlight, a knife, a compass, a charged phone;
- If you or a relative is lost, call 112.
