The EU countries are facing a security crisis after the positions of Russia and the United States came closer together, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, according to Al Jazeera .
"Europe basically followed this path with the US, that's how its military plans developed. Later, America was no longer in the equation. Then all the political and military capabilities mobilized by Europe fell into the abyss," the Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized.
According to Fidan, when the United States stepped aside, the EU countries found themselves in a standoff with Russia . “Undoubtedly, Europe is facing a security crisis,” he stated.
Earlier it became known that on February 27, delegations from Russia and the United States plan to hold talks in Istanbul , where they will discuss problems in the work of the embassies of the two countries and ways to return to their normal functioning. It is specified that neither the issue of the conflict in Ukraine nor the topic of frozen Russian assets will be touched upon.
