VTB explains record net profit by 'unexpected rescues'

VTB's net profit last year was a record 551.4 billion rubles, said the bank's first deputy chairman, Dmitry Pyanov. According to him, this was due to targeted actions and "unexpected rescues."
The top manager specified that the bank had carried out a special reorganization: it had removed blocked assets and liabilities from the balance sheet. These measures yielded a net profit of 21 billion rubles.
