Woman arrested in Stavropol whose dogs mauled 9-year-old girl to death

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Stavropol has remanded in custody the owner of the dogs that mauled a 9-year-old girl to death. The measure of restraint was chosen for 1.5 months, the Stavropol courts' Telegram channel reported.
"The court, having examined the material, taking into account all the data on the citizen's personality, as well as the circumstances of the child's death, came to the conclusion to satisfy the investigator's petition. By the court's decision, a preventive measure was chosen for the citizen in the form of detention for 1 month and 30 days, that is, until April 23, 2025," the report says.
A child died after being attacked by a pack of dogs in Stavropol on Sunday. The girl was walking near a house where a woman kept the animals. A local resident tried to drive them away with shots, but the child died from multiple bites. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of causing death by negligence.
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the dogs were not kept in cages and were free to roam. "Knowing that the dog was a source of increased danger, the citizen did not take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of people who might be near her home," the court reported, adding that the decision to choose a preventive measure for the woman has not yet entered into legal force.
