A rare butterfly listed in the Red Book was spotted in the village of Novokruchininsky in Transbaikalia.
The dwarf peacock-eye is supposed to have long tails, but this 11-centimeter specimen had damaged ones. The woman who found the light green butterfly noted that she had previously seen a similar one in the village of Karymskoye.
Biologist Oleg Korsun said that questions about this nocturnal insect have been coming in every year — it is increasingly being recorded in various areas of the region. This is reported by the Telegram channel Chita.Ru.
This species usually lives in the Amur Region, the Jewish Autonomous Region, the south of Khabarovsk Krai, Primorye and the Kuril Islands. Previously, in Transbaikalia, such butterflies were found only in the east, but in recent years they have begun to appear in other places.
