A man accused of spying for Israel has been executed in Iran, Nour News reports.

According to the agency, the executed man collaborated with the Israeli intelligence agency MOSSAD, receiving remuneration for transmitting sensitive information about Iran.

The information he passed on included details of specific individuals; he sent weekly reports to a handler "in one of the Gulf states," the report said.

Earlier, it was reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran carried out a large-scale operation in the province of Lorestan, during which 16 citizens of the country were detained. According to the Tasnim news agency, those arrested are suspected of supporting Israel and carrying out subversive activities in the Internet space. According to Iranian law enforcement agencies, the detainees deliberately spread false information and panic on social networks, trying to weaken national unity.
