In Moscow, doctors from the Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Care provided emergency care to a man who suffered extensive skin lesions covering 80% of his body as a result of contact with hogweed. Information about this was published by the institution's press service .
The victim was mowing the grass on his summer cottage plot, where he accidentally encountered a thicket of hogweed. Not attaching any particular importance to this, he did not take any precautions. Returning home, the man noticed redness on his skin, but despite the severe itching, he decided to go to bed.
In the morning, he discovered a serious skin lesion, after which he was immediately hospitalized. Initially, the patient was taken to the burn center of the research institute, where he received local treatment, including dressings using modern medical developments.
The patient was then transferred to a toxicology center, where he was prescribed specialized therapy aimed at reducing itching and reducing the toxic effects of hogweed juice. In total, the man spent 10 days in the toxicology department, receiving the necessary treatment and rehabilitation.
