The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Valaam Monastery reported a change in the official status of Schema-Abbot Gavriil Vinogradov. Details are provided in the official Telegram channel of the monastic community.
“Schema-Abbot Gabriel (Vinogradov) has been relieved of his post as head of the Sochi courtyard of the Valaam Monastery,” noted representatives of the monastery.
Their statement also stated that the priest was additionally removed from the management of the hermitage under his jurisdiction.
At the moment, a number of Russian media outlets have suggested that the decision of the monastery's hierarchy is connected with the odious statements the monk has made on numerous occasions. Some admit that some elements of his sermons were based on racial prejudice.
About a month before his dismissal , Schema-Abbot Gavriil Vinogradov openly stated that “demons” may be present in children with innate talents.
