On June 13, the Russian government expanded the list of prohibited narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, adding 14 new items.
As TASS clarifies with reference to the relevant resolution, the list includes synthetic cannabinoids and opioids that are dangerous to life and health. Also, the circulation of four psychotropic substances, including clotizolam and cyclotizolam, was restricted.
In addition, the document reduces the threshold quantities of mephedrone for classification as large and especially large quantities under criminal articles by 2.5 times. Previously, 0.2 g was considered a large quantity, 2.5 g was considered large, and 500 g was considered especially large. Now these values have been reduced to 0.2 g, 1 g, and 200 g, respectively.
On June 4, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk, reported the liquidation of a large drug lab in the Chelyabinsk region with a monthly production of about 500 kg of prohibited substances. The members of the criminal group were arrested.
