Almost throughout the entire capital region, with the exception of the center of Moscow, frosts were recorded on Sunday night, Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos meteorological center, reported on his Telegram channel.

The minimum temperature at the base weather station at VDNKh was -0.3°C. In other areas of the capital, the figures varied:

The most severe frosts were recorded in Cherusti near Moscow, where the thermometer dropped to -4°C. According to Leus, frosts will continue on the night of May 27: from 0°C to -5°C is expected.

Earlier, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand warned of a sharp cold snap in most of the European part of the country this coming weekend. The forecaster noted that from Saturday, air masses from the Arctic latitudes will begin to influence the region, which will lead to a significant drop in temperature indicators. Vilfand added that the weather will be accompanied by precipitation in the form of drizzle, wet snow and gusty wind. On Monday, negative temperatures will cover the entire European part of Russia.

The Hydrometeorological Center recommends that residents take the forecast into account when planning trips and stock up on warm clothing.
