Dmitry Peskov told journalists that Russia and China have no "strong differences" regarding their assessments of the role of the European Union in the modern world. The day before, Chinese President Xi Jinping called the EU one of the important poles of a multipolar world, while Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had previously refused to consider the EU as such.

Peskov said that in the absence of "strong differences," there are trends that are obvious to everyone. "In the sense that the EU is losing its economic power (this is indicated by the economic indicators of the largest countries in the union), and political influence, and sovereignty," the Kremlin spokesman said.

He added that these are “all objective processes that will develop dynamically.”
