The US has given South Korea permission to build a nuclear submarine.

US President Donald Trump announced on the social media platform TruthSocial that the United States had granted South Korea permission to build a nuclear submarine. He stated that Seoul would build nuclear submarines, not diesel ones, at shipyards in Philadelphia—"right here in the good ol' USA."

Trump also announced that South Korea had agreed to pay $350 billion in tariff relief , increase purchases of American oil and gas, and invest over $600 billion in the US economy from major Korean companies and entrepreneurs. He added that military cooperation between the two countries would strengthen; earlier, on October 29, he had announced a trade agreement with Seoul.
