Elderly primates, currently housed in the Kurchatov Complex of Medical Primatology, have become the object of research by Russian scientists looking for biomarkers of longevity and studying the impact of nutrition on lifespan. The corresponding statement was made by the director of the Russian Scientific Center of Surgery named after Academician B.V. Petrovsky Konstantin Kotenko during the SPIEF-2025, writes URA.RU.

He emphasized that the study proposes to evaluate biomarkers of aging in primates and humans, compare age-related changes in the two species across all organs and systems, and, as a result, develop a study plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the drugs.

As the expert noted, conducting such experiments can provide new information about the aging process in mammals, including humans.

According to scientists, if the study reveals common mechanisms, this will make it possible to get closer to developing effective methods for combating aging.
