Scientists from the University of North Carolina have concluded that the popular sugar substitute sucralose can damage DNA and lead to mutations.
The amount of sucralose needed to be harmful is no more than the amount you could get in a day from using a sugar substitute, the scientists said.
Sucralose, which has the code E955, is not a prohibited additive.
