"Communism" is now a crime in this country

Czech President Petr Pavel signed an amendment to the criminal code equating the propaganda of communist ideology with Nazi propaganda.

According to Radio Prague International, the revision, which envisages changes to the relevant criminal code, was signed by President Pavel.

Under the revised law, those who establish, support or encourage Nazi, communist or other movements aimed at suppressing human rights and freedoms or inciting ethnic, national, religious or class hatred could face up to five years in prison.

The law previously foresaw the prohibition of Nazi propaganda, but with the revision of the law, propaganda aimed at spreading communism is now equated with Nazi propaganda.
