'I'm a little nervous' 14 years of friendship! Yaren is waiting for the stork: A few days left for it to arrive

The 14-year-long friendship between fisherman Adem Yılmaz, who lives in the Eskikaraağaç Stork Village of Karacabey district of Bursa and the stork he named 'Yaren', representing Turkey in the 'European Stork Villages' network, has turned into a story followed by millions of people.

Recalling that Yaren, the stork whose friendship was the subject of a storybook, song and video clip, landed on his boat while he wasfishing on the lake 14 years ago, Adem Yılmaz said, "I met Yaren in 2011 when she landed on my boat while I was fishing. I was fishing at that time. I fed her with fish, and after feeding her, she flew away. The next day, while I was waiting to see if she would come again, she landed on my boat again. She came every morning like this, and I fed her and got her used to me. Our friendship has continued like this for 14 years."

'I'M A LITTLE WORRIED'

Saying that he is excitedly waiting for Yaren to come for the 14th year, Yilmaz said, "This year is the 14th year. There are a few days left for her to come. I am excitedly waiting. I am also a little nervous, wondering if she will come. I have this doubt every year. God willing, I am waiting for Yaren until the 5th of March. Our village loves Yaren, they are waiting for her too. God willing, she will come again and make all animal lovers happy." (DHA)
