It was emphasized that the news attempted to create a false perception that Turkey was waging a war against the Kurds in Syria. The Directorate of Communications, which sent a denial to the BBC regarding the news in question, stated that Turkey was not targeting any ethnic group or civilians in its fight against terrorism. It was emphasized that Turkey's only target was terrorist organizations such as the PKK /YPG and ISIS that threatened peace and security in the region. The statement said, "We expect the BBC to act with an objective and multi-faceted approach to journalism instead of one-sided and untrue news that misleads the public."
