Cameras and emergency buttons will be installed on school buses and public transport vehicles.

The Ministry released a statement on social media regarding camera-recording systems in school buses and public transportation vehicles. The statement explained that the amendment to the "Regulation on the Manufacture, Modification, and Assembly of Vehicles" has been revised to meet the needs anticipated by the Ministry of Interior, revising the technical criteria for camera systems, video recorders, emergency buttons, and tracking devices to be installed in vehicles. It was noted that the details of the implementation were determined by the ‘Series Installation Certification Directive’ put into effect by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE). “With the regulation, companies that provide device sets that can work integrated with the 112 Emergency Call Center will be given a ‘Device Suitable for Installation Certificate.’ These companies will be announced on the TSE website. As of July 14, 2025, the installation of these devices will be able to be carried out by all companies that hold a ‘Series Renovation Type Approval Certificate’ that modify school buses. In addition, the way will also be paved for new companies to obtain serial installation authorization, provided that they reach at least 10 service points in seven regions across Türkiye.”
'IT WILL BE DIRECTLY CONNECTED WITH THE EMERGENCY CALL CENTER'The statement emphasized that the systems in question will be verified to be operational from the moment they are installed. "Data communication will be established with 112 via affordable SIM cards in the devices, ensuring safer, human-centered travel," it said. "With the new regulation, companies responsible for device supply and those carrying out the installation are separated. Device sets are being standardized. High-quality, traceable, and secure devices are being installed on vehicles. Device-vehicle matching simplifies location tracking for the Ministry of Interior. The implementation will begin with school buses, and the devices will subsequently be installed in all public transportation vehicles. Device information will be matched with the vehicles' chassis numbers, allowing for tracking."
