Ekrem İmamoğlu's attempt to cover up the irregular diploma scandal: Özgür Özel's irrational defense!

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sent a letter to Istanbul University within the scope of the investigation opened against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu for the crime of "forgery of official documents" due to the claim that his university diploma was fake, requesting that the necessary procedures be carried out as soon as possible so that the work and transactions to be carried out using İmamoğlu's diploma as basis would not be against the law.

UNREASONABLE DEFENSE FROM ÖZEL!

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel launched an irrational defense to cover up the "fake diploma" scandal of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. Özgür Özel said, "No. Why would it be canceled? Can something that exists be destroyed? A diploma given 31 years ago, courses passed... The university announced it, said, 'Come and apply to me', and accepted the application."

Özel said, "If someone had committed a murder 31 years ago, that murder would have been legally eliminated due to the statute of limitations."

The investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegations that İmamoğlu's undergraduate diploma is fake is ongoing.

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which sent a letter to the Istanbul University Rectorate within the scope of the investigation, pointed out that in the Higher Education Council's (YÖK) research report, only the Eastern Mediterranean University was recognized among the higher education institutions operating in the TRNC during the period in question.

Considering the correspondence included in the report, it was noted in the letter that the condition of recognition of higher education institutions in foreign countries is sought in horizontal transfer procedures, and therefore it was understood that the horizontal transfer procedures of the unrecognized University College of Northern Cyprus (UCNC) were not carried out in accordance with the decisions of the YÖK by the Dean of Istanbul University's Faculty of Business Administration.
