Military vehicle plunges into cliff in Colombia: 9 dead, 20 injured
A military vehicle tumbled down a 100-meter cliff in the La Columpia area of Barbacoas, a town in the Narino administrative region of Colombia.
According to AA news; 9 soldiers lost their lives and 20 soldiers were injured in the accident.
In a statement, Army Commander General Luis Emilio Cardozo Santamaria thanked the civil defense for their support and assistance and announced that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
Colombian President Gustavo Petro also expressed his condolences to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives in the accident on his social media account.
Petro said, "Children of the motherland and the Colombian people lost their lives in a traffic accident. A very sad accident. I offer my condolences to all the families. If you entrust your children to a President, an institution and a state, we must make more efforts to ensure that they return home in good health. I am very sorry for the accident."
