President Erdoğan: The state will handle rent planning

President Erdoğan: The state will handle rent planning

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is attending the AK Party Economic Affairs Directorate Training Program.

Erdoğan gives a speech at the program held at the AK Party Headquarters.

Highlights from President Erdoğan's speech are as follows:

"We keep our finger on the pulse of all our citizens. As a political movement that has been guided by the nation for 24 years, looking to the same horizon, and never straying from the nation's path, I consider the role of our Presidency of Economic Affairs to be very important in this regard. You are our eyes and ears on the ground.

Our principle has remained unchanged for 24 years. There is no stubbornness with the people. Unlike others, we have acted with a consultative approach, listening to diverse opinions, and not with a top-down dictation. We will continue to pursue politics along the same lines.

"INFLATION IS CAUSING HEAD PAIN FOR MANY COUNTRIES"

The global economy has still not recovered from the coronavirus shock. Global inflation, which at one point reached 60-70-year highs, along with production and employment issues, continues to plague many countries. We can't say that inflation has ceased to be a source of concern. We see signs of this in the statements made.

"WE ARE TRYING TO REACH GOALS IN THE ECONOMY"

Even countries that have made some progress in combating inflation are still taking precautions. Add to this the hot conflicts unfolding in our region. We all know the unease the Russo-Ukrainian war, approaching its fourth year, has caused in the economy and financial markets.

The tariff tensions between the US and China, which have recently escalated again, are also creating additional pressure. In this environment, Turkey is striving to keep our country away from conflict, heal the wounds of the February 6th disaster, and achieve our economic goals.

"WE TOOK AN IMPORTANT STEP FOR GAZA"

Yesterday, we took a significant step toward ending the Gaza genocide, the deepest bleeding wound in our region. As leaders, we demonstrated a strong resolve. I hope that the quadripartite declaration we signed will be a new milestone on the path to lasting peace in our region.

- Of course, while saying these things, we do not forget this fact: It will perhaps never be possible to eliminate the destruction caused by the genocide, which left behind 68 thousand martyrs, more than 170 thousand wounded, destroyed cities, and shattered lives.

"OUR DESIRE IS A PERMANENT AND JUST PEACE"

We find the establishment of a ceasefire in Gaza extremely valuable. Now, we must all work together to heal Palestine's wounds and restore Gaza to its feet. As Turkey, we will work towards this goal and closely monitor every stage of the process with this understanding. We will strive to manage this process with wisdom. Our desire is for the step taken yesterday to be crowned with a lasting and just peace.

We still have a long way to go. As I've always said, our top priority is to fundamentally address the high cost of living. Despite obstacles beyond our control, such as drought, agricultural freezes, and regional crises, we are determined to achieve our goals.

"WE WILL START THE CHEAP RENTAL PROCESS"

We are implementing a very important project to address the current high rents and housing prices. From now on, the state will be responsible for planning the rent. In other words, instead of allowing citizens to rent and exploit them with high rents, the state will rent out these social housing units itself, and God willing, we will sincerely initiate the process of providing affordable rentals.

"500,000 social housing units will be built"

With this project, titled "Housing of the Century," we will build a total of 500,000 social housing units. We will allocate special quotas for families of martyrs and veterans, retirees, families with three children, and citizens with disabilities.

- We will implement rental housing for the first time in Türkiye through TOKİ. We will bring relief to low-income families. Our housing project will strengthen our position not only in social policies but also in the fight against inflation. We will share the details of our project by the end of October, hopefully.

"CHP DOES NOT GOVERN"

When the corruption operations began, they invented a boycott to protect the pickpockets who had settled in the Beytülmal from prosecution. They did everything from booing brands at their rallies to targeting them. But no matter what they did, they were unsuccessful. The boycott calls always fell flat on their faces. Their aim was to threaten and extort national brands. Our people are now confused as to whether they are a political party or a mafia.

Under Mr. Özel's leadership, the CHP is gradually losing its identity as a political party. As I've said before, the CHP is being mismanaged; it's being tossed around like a ship with a locked rudder. The captain, however, cares neither for the ship nor the passengers.

REACTION TO ÖZEL'S BRUSSELS RALLY

They have never been able to break the habit of complaining about their own country to foreigners. They were supposed to act as the Turkish party, not the main opposition party, when visiting other countries, but they didn't even keep their own promise. The CHP Chairman's latest visit was a disaster. I say this independently: having this country's president booed by his comrades in western capitals isn't politics, and it's certainly not opposition.
