Six babies die from severe cold in Gaza, where Israel's killer restricts aid entry

Despite the ceasefire reached after more than 15 months of Israeli attacks, the cold weather in Gaza, where there are shelter and heating problems due to the restriction of aid, is increasing the suffering of the people of the region.
Said Salah, the director of the Friends of the Patients Hospital in Gaza City, told AA that nine babies who fell ill due to severe cold weather were brought to the hospital in the last two weeks.
"In the last two weeks, five babies who came to the hospital, aged between one day and two weeks, lost their lives," Salah said.
Salah said that a baby was being kept in intensive care and that his condition was serious and that he was connected to a ventilator.
Salah stated that all three children were discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment.
Salah said that the children were brought to the hospital with body temperatures of 32 and 33 degrees, and that the children could not breathe, their blood pressure had dropped and their lungs were not working properly.
Salah reported that when the children were brought to the hospital, their skin color also turned blue.
Regarding the needs in Gaza, Salah called on the international community to take urgent action to bring container homes and tents, as well as heating materials, especially for children and babies.
Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that another baby died due to severe cold.
Number of children dying from freezing weather in Gaza rises to 13According to the government's Media Office in Gaza, seven children had previously died in Gaza due to severe cold.
More than 61,000 Palestinians have died, including 14,000 who disappeared under the rubble, and 2 million people have been displaced during Israel’s attacks on Gaza, which have continued for more than 15 months.
The attacks also targeted hospitals, homes and schools where displaced Palestinians took refuge, destroying 88 percent of the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip.
Due to Israel's long-standing blockade of humanitarian aid into Gaza, the people of the region are in need of aid such as food, clean water, shelter and heating materials.
