Türkiye's Oscar nominee has been announced!

Turkey's nominee for the "Best International Film Oscar", given by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has been announced.
The Turkish Oscar Selection Committee, formed by the Union of Cinema Professional Associations, has selected "One of the Days Hemme Died," written and directed by Murat Fıratoğlu, as Turkey's Oscar contender from this year's submissions. The film will compete for the Oscar nomination among productions from around the world.
Written, directed, and starring Murat Fıratoğlu, the film premiered at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where it won the "Orrizonti Special Jury Prize." It also won the "Best Film" award at the 31st Adana International Golden Boll Film Festival.
The film tells the story of agricultural worker Eyüp's one-day, angry journey through Siverek to kill his boss Hemme, for whom he has not been paid for his labor at the tomato drying job.
Turkey has submitted numerous esteemed Oscar nominations in past years, but these films weren't shortlisted. Previous Oscar nominees included Nuri Bilge Ceylan's "Winter Sleep" and "Once Upon a Time in Anatolia," Zeki Demirkubuz's "Hayat," Yılmaz Erdoğan's "The Butterfly's Dream," Kaan Müjdeci's "Sivas," and Can Ulkay's "Ayla."

The film tells the story of a laborer named Eyüp, forced to work in a tomato field due to debts. When Eyüp fails to receive his pay from his foreman, Hemme, he hatches a plan for revenge. This story, which contains powerful social criticism, reveals the harsh living conditions of the Anatolian countryside through its simple narrative and depth of character.
The cast includes Salih Taşçı, Sefer Fıratoğlu, Güneş Sayın, Ali Barkın Birkan, Fırat Bozan, and Çetin Fıratoğlu. The directors of photography are Nedim Dedecan and Semih Yıldız.
