Citizens' enthusiasm was cut short in vehicle inspection

Vehicle inspection stations will be better equipped with ATMs, cafeterias and electric vehicle charging stations in the new period. However, no reduction in the high inspection fees that citizens are expecting is on the agenda. While the MOI Joint Venture Group won the privatization tender held yesterday, the claims that the new company would implement a low fee policy seem to have been in vain.
CITIZENS EXPERIENCED DISAPPOINTMENT WHILE EXPECTING A FEE REDUCTIONVehicle inspection services provided by TÜVTÜRK at high prices for years have drawn the ire of drivers. Rumors that the fees would decrease after the new tender were denied by the statements made. While no change is foreseen in the inspection fees, some additional services will be put into effect for drivers.
WHAT SERVICES WILL BE OFFERED IN THE NEW TERM?In the new privilege period that will start on August 15, 2027, the number of fixed and mobile stations will be increased throughout Turkey. While 125 fixed stations will be established in the 1st region and 124 in the 2nd region, 10 motorcycle stations will also be put into operation. In addition, it is aimed to bring inspection services to wider audiences with 93 mobile stations.
PUBLIC SHARE WILL BE TAKEN FROM THE EXAMINATION FEESThe public share of vehicle inspection fees in the new period has been determined as 30 percent for the first three years, 40 percent for the next seven years, and 50 percent for the last ten years. These rates once again show that fees for drivers will not decrease.
VEHICLE INSPECTIONS WILL BE IN EU STANDARDSAuthorities state that vehicle inspections will be brought into line with European Union norms in the new period. It is stated that with this regulation, safety and environmental standards will be applied more strictly.
ELECTRIC CHARGING STATIONS AND TECHNOLOGICAL PAYMENT POSSIBILITYThe new vehicle inspection stations will attract attention not only with their technical checks but also with the services they offer. Charging stations will be set up for electric vehicle owners, and additional services such as ATMs and cafeterias will be offered. Inspection fees can be paid with credit cards and other technological payment methods. However, since there will be no discount on fees, the money coming out of citizens' pockets will not change.
FREE CALL CENTER SERVICE WILL BE IMPLEMENTEDIn order to resolve the problems experienced during the vehicle inspection process, a free call center service will also be offered in the new period. Appointment procedures and complaints can be followed through this center.
Although citizens welcomed the additional services to be offered in the new period, the fact that there was no reduction in the high inspection fees, which was their main expectation, has been disappointing. Drivers are expecting concrete steps from the authorities to reduce inspection fees to more reasonable levels.
