Decision to re-biopsy Murat Çalık

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir made a statement regarding the health condition of Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested after being removed from his position as Beylikdüzü Mayor. CONCERNS INCREASEDÇalık was referred to hospital during his detention and underwent surgery to remove four masses found in his neck. However, following final checks, the hospital board decided to perform a second biopsy because the tissues taken could not provide a definitive diagnosis or new suspicions arose. This development increased concerns about Çalık's health.
CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir reacted to Mehmet Murat Çalık being tried in detention despite his treatment process in a post he made on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Emir said, “The hospital board decided to perform a new biopsy on our Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who had 4 masses removed from his neck last week.”
In his post, Emir harshly criticized the judicial process by recalling other examples of people being released on health grounds, saying, “While the Madımak Massacre suspects and ISIS members were released on the grounds of ‘health condition’, why is a mayor who was elected by the people’s vote, whose charges are insufficient, and who is also receiving cancer treatment, still in captivity? What are you still waiting for to be released?”
